Synthesis and characterization of biocompatible hydrogels
Original language description
The proposed project is focused on the synthesis, characterization and degradation kinetic study of well-defined multifunctional biocompatible and biodegradable polymer materials with controlled life-time additionally modified by renewable raw materials. These amphiphilic copolymers are based on the biodegradable macromonomers of hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with hydrophobic copolymer of lactic and glycolic acid (PLA/PGA), which are functionalized by itaconic acid. By changing the molecular weight and molar ratio of these compounds, amphiphilic character of resulted PEG-co-PLA/PGA macromonomers as well as the functional groups separation and, moreover, the kinetic of degradation is affected. Well-defined multifunctional macromonomers can b echemically or physically cross-linked in order to make 3D-polymer network Suggested materials might be further modified by an active chemical compounds to become candidates for a broad range of applications such as biomedical (e.g. inject
