Original language description
Recently, there has been a boom in stem cell research for various applications in biomedical engineering, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, drug discovery, and artificial organs. It is crucial to maintain a well-controlled environment for stem cell culturing and subsequent differentiation. In this review, we discussed microfluidic devices, overcoming the limitations of conventional cell culture methods to provide new opportunities for stem cell research. We particularly debated methods used for stem cell differentiation into osteogenic, neural, and endothelial cells with respect to microfluidic systems. We concluded our review of microfluidic device-based stem cell targeted differentiation with an overview of the possibilities that this cutting-edge technology could bring to the future of medicine.
