Relationships among seed numbers (both sound and aborted) and 15 fruit characteristics were investigated in four apple cultivars (´Golden Delicious´, ´Nabella´, ´Resista´ and ´Selena´) for three years. Fruit samples were harvested in commercial or experimental orchards (without disease control) and stored in two different storage conditions. An incidence of storage diseases and disorders in a storage experiment was also observed. At the end of storage life of every cultivar fruits were individually evaluated and analysed for all characteristics under observation. Positive relationships between seed number and fruit weight was generally the strongest ones if assessed fruits were collected from the same tree or from the same orchard with fruit set regulation. When fruits were taken from different trees of the orchard without fruit set regulation these relationships were completely different ? mainly negative.

U 4 kultivarů jabloní (Golden Delicious, Nabella, Resista a Selena) byly po 3 roky sledovány vztahy mezi počtem semen v plodech a dalšími 15 plodovými znaky. Kromě toho byl během skladování plodů sledován výskyt skládkových chorob a poruch. Pokud byly plody sklízeny v podmínkách regulace násady plodů, byla všeobecně zjišťována kladná korelace mezi počtem vyvinutých semen v plodech a hmotností plodů. Pokud plody byly sklízeny v podmínkách bez regulace násady byl však tento vztah negativní. Plody s menšímpočtem semen častěji trpěly výskytem skládkových chorob a poruch.
