Relationships among seed numbers (both sound and aborted) and 15 fruit characteristics were investigated in four apple cultivars (´Golden Delicious´, ´Nabella´, ´Resista´ and ´Selena´) for three years. Fruit samples were harvested in commercial or experimental orchards (without disease control) and stored in two different storage conditions. An incidence of storage diseases and disorders in a storage experiment was also observed. At the end of storage life of every cultivar fruits were individually evaluated and analysed for all characteristics under observation. Positive relationships between seed number and fruit weight was generally the strongest ones if assessed fruits were collected from the same tree or from the same orchard with fruit set regulation.
