University Students' Motivation to Study the German Language
Original language description
The article explores motivation as a key variable in learning. The author focuses on Czech university students who learn a foreign language, specifically German. The article starts with a brief introduction to the concept of motivation and its individual sub-types from the perspectives of intensity, longevity and impact on the individual. The following section of the article familiarizes its readers with a research project concerning the motivation to study/learn German, which was carried out by the author with his colleagues among the students of three Czech universities. The results of the above research are presented at the same time. The author concludes his article with several humble recommendations for teachers wishing to boost the motivation for further study/learning of German among their pupils/students.
