'Partly Allegorically, Partly Disclosed' - The Problem of the Allegorical Method as a Didactic Tool in Co-menius' "Labyrinth"
Original language description
"The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart" is one of the jewels of Czech alle-gorical literature. The author - John Amos Comenius - intentionally used allegory for didactic purposes, and his method proved to be very effective. The goal ofthis study is to explore the potential of the allegorical literary method from a didactic perspective. The key research ques-tions are: How did Comenius work with allegory as a didactic tool? Can any part of his 'method' be transferred to contemporary education? Can allegory be used in today's pedagog-ical practice? This paper attempts to outline answers to these questions.
