Original language description
Development of land use, dynamics of structural characteristics, and function of landscape in connection with the development of anthropogenic pressure and its effects, are very popular subjects of research, and also in demand by society. The authors document transformation from traditional to post-industrial society in a highly industrialized Northwestern part of Sudeten. Gradual concentration of population and economic activities together with restructuralization of land use (caused by industrialization and urbanization, stressed in totalitarian era 1948 - 1989) led to creation of new demands on landscape and transformation of landscape function. Landscape has been changing gradually from a predominantly productive (or residential-productive) function to multifunctional. This process is monitored in three types of landscape with different functions in northwestern Bohemia, namely: coal basin, intensive agriculture and mountain periphery.
