Original language description
The paper describes results of a 16-month experiment whose main aim was to change pupils' ability to solve mathematical problems and their attitudes towards mathematics through the use of heuristic strategies. The attention in the paper is paid to pupilswhose performance in mathematics is below average. The paper shows that these pupils can use successfully especially experimental strategies and strategies based on the use of graphical representation. However, if positive results are to be achieved, didactical situations must be modified in a suitable way.
