Combustion of Natural Gas in Engines for Heavy-Duty Vehicles
Original language description
The article summarizes methods and possibilities of natural gas combustion in different types of engines: natural gas SI engine and dual-fuel (natural gas/diesel fuel) CI engine. The effect of combustion of a gas fuel mixture on the formation of engine exhaust is very significant. The article also presents research on SI engines using CNG fuel in recent years at the Technical University of Liberec. Among them, there is a test of diesel dual-fuel engine (natural gas/diesel fuel) which is obtained by converting the original diesel four-cylinder supercharged engine with a cylinders volume of 4,5 dm3 and rated power 152 kW at 2500 rpm.
