Variable-density flow and solute transport modelling with layered discretisation}
Result description
We present a problem-suited numerical scheme for solution of variable-density groundwater flow and solute transport problems and its application in the remediation of Straz pod Ralskem uranium leaching site.The numerical scheme is a combination the FEMon2D triangle mesh and finite differences in the vertical direction (1D columns of mesh nodes). We derived the discrete form of theadditional variable-density term, keeping the local mass balance in the both flow and transport numerical schemes. We demonstrate the use of the scheme in a basic benchmark problem,confirming the importance of influence of gravity on dense contaminated solutions and natural water movement with hydralic forces in this site.

Modelování proudění s proměnnou hustotou a transportu látek s proměnnou hustotou pomocí vrstevnaté diskretizace
