In this research work, sewing needle heat on industrial lockstitch sewing machine is measured at different sewing conditions like sewing speed, sewing time, number of fabric layers, vortex cooling and type of sewing thread. Finally the effect of these conditions on sewing needle temperature and the tensile properties of sewing thread are recorded. It is observed that time of sewing, sewing speed and vortex cooling has a significant impact on sewing needle temperature. Stitched thread is pulled out fromthe seam by cutting the bobbin thread for tensile strength measurement; sewing thread shows linear decrease in tensile properties with rise of sewing needle temperature. At sewing speed of 4700 r/min the stitched thread loses 40% of the tensile strength.The loss in tensile strength is much dominant at 3000 r/min and higher speeds. The research is beneficial for knowing the exact needle temperature and tensile loss in sewing thread at different speeds of industrial lockstitch machine.
