Vehicle SI Engine with MPI of Liquid State LPG
Original language description
Natural aspirated SI engine running on alternative fuel LPG with the mixture forming by injection of gaseous LPG to the intake air has the lower power about 5-8% in comparison to the engine running on petrol fuel. The cause of the lower power is the reduction of the fresh mass air in consequence of the volume of gaseous fuel in the fresh mixture. Using of the liquid LPG injection to intake air the engine power is on LPG and on petrol fuel in effect equivalent, because the very intensive evaporation of injected liquid LPG leads to decrease temperature of fresh mixture and subsequently to increasing of filling efficiency of the engine. The very low LPG temperature on the ON at intake manifold (the temperature of LPG there is about -30 up to -55 0C) and the humidity of atmospheric air but produce the icing on the ON of LPG injector and the fragments of the ice will be intake to the engine cylinder and it leads to irregular misfire of mixture at the engine cylinder. The SI engine with the injection of liquid LPG therefore must have the special EPI for prevention to the icing.
