    The authors consider the following ordinary differential equation with hysteresis and time delay in the hysteresis term: $$ frac{du}{dt}={rm const}[F(u)](t-tau), $$ where $F$ is a hysteresis operator of the relay type. They also consider a partial differential equation with hysteresis in the boundary conditions. These equations describe thermostats. The existence of periodic solutions to both of the equations mentioned is proved. Moreover, the relationship between these equations is discussed.
