  • Original language description

An electrical insulation system plays a key role in the electrical appliances. Insulating systems of high power high voltage appliances are in the centre of the attention in the terms of the reliability. This is in the relation with observing of the possible degradation mechanisms. One of the observed mechanisms is electrical treeing. Electrical treeing causing electrical breakdown of the insulation by the lower voltages than is the regular breakdown voltage. Cases are known, when an electrical treeingon the rated voltage level caused the electrical breakdown of an appliance. Typical example is electrical treeing in the insulating systems of high voltage cables. Presented paper is concerned on the problem of electrical treeing in polymer materials andinsulating tapes for rotary machines.
