    The paper is focused on analysis and comparison of breakingcapabilityofconventionaldistributionalcircuitbreakers and generator circuit breakers within special cases of breaking. The loss of breaking capability in limitary areas of breaking characteristics might lead to the circuit breaker's failure during clearances of asymmetrical currents with large DC component. The ?rst part of the paper is focused on asymmetrical and symmetrical current comparison, then the breaking capability is introduced. The last part of the paper is focused on evaluation of breaking capability within the speci?c application.
