Inter-Turn Short Circuit Fault Detection Algorithm for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Embedded into the Motor Drive Controller
Original language description
In this paper, an online stator inter-turn short circuit fault detection algorithm for interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive is presented. The detector is embedded into a digital signal processor/field programmable gate array (DSP/FPGA) drive controller to create an integrated drive-diagnosis system. The fault detection algorithm uses the saturation saliency of the machine to design a robust fault indicator able to detect fault during transient states. Experimental testing is used to validate the proposed online detector on a laboratory prototype of IPMSM drive with modified stator windings.
