Be creative! Accelerate your ideas and envisions!
Original language description
Proposal of the thematic workshop "Be creative! Accelerate your ideas and envisions!" was based on the international scientific research project carried out in 2020, which focused on mapping key competencies for interdisciplinary teamwork among 98 product design students and professional designers from three universities. The results of this research were presented at the ADADA-CUMULUS 2020 international online conference organized by the Asia Digital Art and Design Association, Tokyo Metropolitan University. The workshop was piloted at four Chinese universities during 2021: 1) School of Design and Arts, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, School of Design, East China Normal University, Shanghai, College of Art and Design, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing, School of Art and Design, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Tianjin. The aim of the workshop was to foster students' inner creativity and accelerate new ideas and visions through creative techniques based on the principle of Design Thinking. As an accelerator of new ideas, the workshop provided participants with a number of interesting principles and techniques that they can use for their future teamwork. It was several hours of inspiration in an experiential way with an emphasis on developing creative thinking, where the lecturer was a guide and participants worked in small teams with maximum commitment and time limits within the planned tasks. The workshop was sized for a maximum of 25 product design students with a total of 8 class hours and was delivered in a hybrid format, with a guest lecturer leading the workshop online and participants working physically in the classroom with the help of a collaborating academic from the university. During the summer and winter semesters of 2021, 6 workshops were held with a total of 115 students participating. The experience of conducting these international workshops led to two online thematic lectures and presentations for 1) Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), USA and 2) TAYLOR'S University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
