Socrative app in natural sciences on elementary schools
Original language description
Modern technologies are nowadays a usual part of elementary school's lessons. They are involved in all parts of the lesson. The help the teacher to expose the curriculum, the students to fixate it and they are even usable in testing the knowledge. In this article we will focus on Socrative App, which can be used while fixating the curriculum, but mainly while testing it. The app is a free blank type of app and the teachers can create their own materials in it. Students fill out the tests using their own computer or mobile device. The app is available for iOS, Windows and Android. In our research we use questionnaire to find out children's (12-14 years of age) opinions on the Socrative App. The students have been using the app over the last 4 months in natural history, physics and chemistry while exercising the curriculum as well as testing it. Our research showed interesting results, mainly with a few students who have special educational needs and are integrated in ordinary classes. To complete the research we also conducted an interview with these children with special educational needs and also with their teachers. We can say that the children really liked the app, more while testing the curriculum than while fixating it. Very positive reactions came from students with special educational needs.
