Integrating Students' Knowledge in the Light of Research
Original language description
Contrary to popular belief, effective teaching does not consist in transmitting ready knowledge by teachers, but in acquiring, memorising, and then recreating the knowledge by students. The learner must discover as much „knowledge“ as possible. Such teaching/learning corresponds to the constructivist approach. One of the key steps in constructivist approach is integration of the knowledge. It was decided to investigate how teachers of secondary schools in the Małopolskie voivodeship integrate the knowledge and experience of students freshly acquired during the lessons with information known to them earlier. The chapter presents the results of the research.
