The effect of ?-casein genotype on the milk yield and reproductive traits of cows was investigated in herds of Simmental cattle. Simmental cows were characterized by clear ?-casein polymorphism and high frequency of the B CSN3 allele (0.469). The study showed no statistically significant differences for the milk yield traits of cows with different CSN3 genotypes. The milk composition of cows with different CSN3 genotypes was found to vary considerably. The milk of cows with the CSN3 BB genotype had a significantly higher casein content and a higher crude protein and fat content compared to the milk of CSN3 AA homozygotes.

Polymorfismus mléčného ?-kaseinu ve vztahu k mléčné produktivitě a reprodukčním ukazatelům krav Simmentálského plemene.
Czech description
Vliv ?-kaseinového genotypu na mléčnou užitkovost a reprodukční ukazatele krav byl sledován u vybraných stád Simmetálského plemene. Toto plemeno bylo charakterizováno zjevným ?-kaseinovým polymorfismem a vysokou frekvencí výskytu B CSN3 alely (0.469). Nebyly zjištěny žádné významné rozdíly v produkci mléka u krav s odlišným CSN3 genotypem. Složení mléka u krav s odlišným CSN3 genotypem se ovšem lišilo významně. Mléko krav s CSN3 BB genotypem obsahovalo více kaseinu, bílkovin a tuku než u CSN3 AA homozygótů.
