The botanical diversity and nitrate leaching by different grassland managements
Original language description
In the years 2005 ? 2007 it was studied in experiments the influences of cattle grazing, combination of mowing and grazing and no-harwesting (fallow) of grasslands to the development of their sward composition (species richness and diverzity) and ecological functions (nitrate contents in ground water, soil cementation) in Šumava mountain foothills (Rojov, 850 m a.s.l., Velký Chuchelec, 650 m a.s.l.). The results of botanical composition analyse showes, that no-harwesting of grasslands lead to the degradation of sward composition. Grazed and mowed + grazed stands have better sward composition with dominant Poa pratensis, Festuca pratensis, Dactylis glomerata, Lolium perenne and Trifolium repens, in unharwested stands develops Festuca rubra, Agropyron repens and urtica dioica. Simpson´s index values are in grazed stands signifficantly higher than in unharwested stands. From the wiewpoint of undeground water preservation of nitrate pollution it can be optimal grazing in 3-4 pasture cycles
