Concept of Inquiry - Based Learning in teachers - professional development
Original language description
Inquiry is the intentional process of diagnosing problems, critiquing experiments, and distinguishing alternatives, planning investigations, researching conjectures, searching for information, constructing models, debating with peers and forming coherentarguments (Linn, Davis and Bell, 2004). Inquiry-based learning and teaching is therefore seen as very potential tool for changing the student?s attitude toward school learning and for development of his/her intrinsic motivation. Thus it should be introduced in pre-service teacher training and then cultivated as a core teaching concept in further professional development. The paper will present the data on inquiry-based learning concept as seen by teacher students and in-service teachers.
