SUMMARY: Eight varieties of proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) were cultivated in České Budějovice during years 1998 - 2000. No fertilisation was applied Content of nitrogenous compounds was determined according to Kjeldahl, fat content according to Soxhlet, fibre content according to Scharrer and Kürschner and ash compounds by weight method. The statistical signification of variety influence at proteins, fibre, ash and carbohydrate by the analysis of variance was observed. Content of proteins, fat, ash and carbohydrate was significantly influenced by year. Grain of millet contained on the average 12,8% proteins, 4,2% fat, 9,6% fibre, 3,0% ash and 70,3%carbohydrate.
