Original language description

Subgravid females (up to 439 mm long) of the nematode Philometra sp. were found in meagre Argyrosomus regius (Sciaenidae: Perciformes) off the southern Atlantic coast of Portugal in 2006. The general morphology of these nematodes somewhat resembles thatof Philometra lateolabracis, but the gravid females of the species from A. regius are apparently longer. This is the first documented record of a gonad-infecting species of Philometra in marine fishes off the Atlantic coast of Europe.

Czech description

U mořské ryby Argyrosomus regius (Sciaenidae: Perciformes) od jižního atlantického pobřeží Portugalska byly v roce 2006 zjištěny subgravidní samice (až 439 mm dlouhé) hlístice Philometra sp. Celková morfologie těchto hlístic se poněkud podobá morfologiiPhilometra lateolabracis, ale gravidní samice druhu z A. regius jsou zřejmě delší. Toto je první dokumentovaný nález druhu rodu Philometra z gonád mořských ryb od atlantického pobřeží Evropy.
