Development of a diagnostic PCR to detect Neoparamoeba perurans, agent of amoebic gill disease

  • Original language description

The recent description of Neoparamoeba perurans as an aetiological agent of amoebic gill disease (AGD) has forced a re-evaluation of methods used for diagnosis of AGD. The PCR amplification of the N. perurans 18S rRNA gene was shown to be specific and highly sensitive. The PCR-based assay provides a simple, flexible tool that will be useful addition to the methods used for diagnosis of AGD and could facilitate further epidemiological and ecological studies.

Vývoj diagnostické PCR pro detekci Neoparamoeba perurans, původce amébového onemocnění žaber

  • Czech description

Recentní popis Neoparamoeba perurans jako původce amébového onemocnění žaber si vyžádal revizi metod používaných pro diagnostiku amébového onemocnění žaber (AGD). PCR amplifikace 18S rRNA genu N. perurans se ukázala být dostatečně specifická a citlivá, aby doplnila metody dosud používané pro diagnostiku AGD a aby zajistila perspektivu epidemiologicky a ekologicky zaměřených studií.
