A negative feedback loop controls ROS production in plant immunity
Original language description
RBOHD is the main producer of extracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) in response to pathogen infection in the model plant Arabidopsis. Many studies have addressed how ROS production by RBOHD can be stimulated however very few studies have investigated how the enzyme can also be negatively regulated to avoid excessive ROS production. The redox-regulated protein QSOX1 is involved in this negative regulation as it prevents the catabolization of S-nitrosoglutathione by inhibition of S-NITROSOGLUTATIONE REDUCTASE.
