    A 1.4 ppm concentration of the presumably beetle-specific toxin Cry3Aa in transgenic potato leaves and 3.3 ppm Cry3Aa added to an agar-based diet cause in the Egyptian armyworm, Spodoptera littoralis, 11% and 5% reduction of the pupal weight and 74% and65% reduction of the progeny, respectively. Insects grown on a diet containing 9.1 ppm Cry3Aa are 10% smaller and produce no viable progeny.

    Toxin Cry3Aa, který je považován za specifický pro brouky, snižuje při koncentraci 1.4 ppm v listech transgenních brambor nebo 3.3 ppm v umělé potravě váhu kukel Spodoptera littoralis o 11%, příp. 5% a produkci potomstva o 74% či 65%. Přítomnost 9.1 ppmCry3Aa v dietě sníží váhu kukel o 10% a zcela zabrání produkci potomstva.
