The article analyses principles of the tank barrel wear and their impact on changes in firing parameters of tank cannons. In accordance with the military directive Děl-30-72, the measurement of the 2A46 cannon barrel bore wear is carried out with the PKI-26 device. Within the Defence Research Project ?DĚLO?, the BG-20 device (UK) was adjusted and customized for the measurement of internal dimensions of the 2A46 cannon barrel bore. Furthermore, the article presents the first results of the experiment carried out by means of the BG-20 device, analysis of the measurement method and comparison with the PKI-26 device. There are suggested possibilities how to use the results in both the Czech and Slovak Armed Forces.
