ICT Education Should Be Started in Time
Original language description
The paper deals with a problem of the optimal time and way to gain basic education in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The starting point of the article is a hypothesis that the age interval from 12 to 15 is a crucial period for the acquisition of basic knowledge and skills in this field. This age interval corresponds with the upper level of basic schools in the Czech Republic. Firstly, the definition of the informatics profile is stated and its description is formulated. After this first theoretical part, the authors proceed to a specific situation in a selected basic school and present the results of a questionnaire survey. The respondents gained their basic ICT education in the age interval from 12 to 15.
