Original language description
The protection of the Czech airspace as far as military threats concerns is granted by the NATO. All nations as alliance members are involved in NATO integrated air defence system (NATINADS). This program is in accordance with NATO MC54/1 oriented mainlyagainst military threats from non NATO countries. Circumstances of the 11 September 2001 changed the nature of protecting the airspace forever. These attacks, performed by civilian airplanes used as terrorist tools, had a profound impact on NATO air defence peacetime operations. Basic tool which is contemporary protecting the airspace, as part of the state sovereignty, is legislature and specific procedures in accordance with the national law. The legislature is depending on international and nationalpolitical willingness.
