Influence of vibration on gravitational acceleration vector measurement

  • Original language description

The paper is focused on the measurement of gravitational acceleration vector using COTS accelerometers and the influence of vibration. Determination of gravitational acceleration vector is a fundamental task of all inertial navigation systems and attitude and heading reference systems. Utilization of COTS acceleration sensors is a domain especially of small unmanned aerial systems. Measurement accuracy is dependent on ambient conditions, i.e. temperature and vibrations. The paper is aimed at the evaluation of the influence of vibration on the measurement accuracy. This effect was verified experimentally using laboratory vibration generator and several 6DOF sensors. These sensors were exposed to vibrations of various frequencies, while the accuracy of gravitational acceleration vector measurement was observed. As a device under test two different categories of sensors were used—general purpose accelerometers and accelerometers intended for drones.
