Psychotomimetic agent BZ ( 3-quinuclidinyl benzilate)
Original language description
Psychotomimetic agent BZ was recognized as an incapacitant agent for military use. Its mechanism of action is based on the interaction with cholinergic receptors. The symptomatology is characterized by peripheral actions-vegetative symptoms and central symptomatology including hallucinations. The antidotes and effective antidotal therapy are of vital interest and are possible using commonly available physostigmine or 7-MEOTA, respectively. The use of BZ in the research of the cholinergic nervous systemcannot be omitted.
