    CZECH FOOD RETAIL PRICES ANALYSIS

    This paper aims to specifically explore the development of prices of selected food items in the Czech Republic in 2011 - 2020 at the level of individual retail chains operating in the CR: Albert, Billa, Kaufland, Lidl, Penny Market and Tesco. The general food price level development in the CR is compared to EU countries level development. The authors of this paper collect data on food prices in individual retail chains operating in the CR for the last ten years. The subject of this research is foodstuffs: carrots, onions, bananas, potatoes, oranges, watermelon, apples, edam cheese, bread, sugar, rice, chicken, milk, butter, eggs. The collected data is compared with aggregated data sets provided by the Czech Statistical Office and also by Eurostat. Basic methods of statistical and comparative analysis at the level of primary and secondary data are used for individual data analyzes.
