Original language description
Experiments have shown that in cooler and more humid conditions of BGR a tendency to higher RS in potato tubers has been demonstrated in all years. Similarly as in the case of resistance of potato tubers against MD, this result corresponds with lower average maturity of potato tubers from PGR. The lower maturity resulted in higher RS (Putz, Lindhauer, 1994, Burton et al., 1992). Potatoes cultivated in BGR contained in all three years higher nitrate contents in comparison with potatoes from PGR. Lower total precipitation in periods critical for plant growth and potato tubers had apparently significant effect on higher nitrate content in these regions in comparison with PGR. In these regions stresses caused by dryness damaged the process of photosynthesis and reduced nitrogen utilization by a plant (Mica et al., 1991). Higher content in localities of BGR are doubtfully in connection with higher amounts in soil solution on more fertile soils of these regions (Prugar, 1992). In average of
