Original language description
The data of main areas of sugar beet growing and weed beet spread in CZ are presented. The study included morphological and genetic diversity of weed beets in CZ. In addition, the reproduction and spreading under field conditions, control methods and their efficacy, cultural practices which influence the spread at present were examined. Weed beet plants show high phenotypic and genetic variability. Plant with different life history, growth habit, maturing time and seed production can be found. The seedproduction was about 1500 seeds per plant. The efficacy of control is low in general, and not sufficient to reduce population density.
