    We wanted to assure if hay in an unnecessary part of the feeding ration of calves, if and to which extend it influences the criteria for the development of the rumen. Controlled group: 8 kg milk beverage, hay ad libitum, feeding mixture 0,200 0,800 kg/head, day. Experimental group: 6kg milk beverage, hay 0, starter 0,400 1,300 kg/head and day. At slaugtering calf in 72,17 days at control group (CG) and 72,67 at experimental group (EG) was findings this rates slaughter weight CG 95,33 kg and EG 89,00 kg.Weight of filling rumen R, reticulum Re and omasum O at CG 6,67 kg and at EG 7,83 kg. Weight of empty R, Re and O 1,52 kg at CG and 1,84 kg at EG. pH of rumen liquid CG 6,27 and EG 5,77. Total content of VFA: 114 microgram (CG) and 135 microgram (EG).
