Influence of ecological growing on table potatoes yield and quality
Original language description
In the field trials the effect of ecological way of the cultivation of table potatoes (in comparison with conventional way) on selected factors of tuber quality in the years 1995 - 1997 was estimated. Trials were performed on two localities (Uhříněves and Valečov) with seven varieties. From the results of statistical evaluation it is evident that the ecological way of cultivation positively affected nitrate and reducing saccharides content that was in this variant (average of all varieties and three years) by 11 % and 22 % lesser in comparison with conventional way. In contrary, negative effect of ecological way of cultivation was determined in total polyphenol content (by 10.2 % higher) and yields per ha (by 36 % lesser). The way of cultivation did not significantly affect other qualitative factors (tuber resistance against mechanical damage, table value, dry matter content, glycoalkaloid content, ascorbic acid content).
