A total number of 40 robber fly species was documented from Podyjí NP. The number represents 47 % of the species richness of the Czech Republic. A comparison of the species composition with the Pálava Biosphere Reserve (BOSÁK 1998, 32 species, i. e. 37,6% of the fauna of the Czech Republic) and in the idustrially affected landscape in NW Bohemia (BOSÁK & BARTÁK 2000, 15 spp., 17.6 %) shows rather limited collecting effort in the industrially affected landscape than a real difference in the species spectrum. The large number of species documented from Podyjí resulted from not just the methodology used, but also from almost 49 years of continuous research.
