  • Original language description

Both species of Acartophthalmidae known from the Czech Republic were found in Podyjí NP. They are widespread in the Holarctic Region and both were found in three localities (5/01, 6/02, 3/04). Although sometimes occurring together, these species differ somewhat by their ecological demands. Acartophthalmus nigrinus seems to be more frequent (11 samples) and more associated with woodland than A. bicolor (found in 6 samples representing 5 localities only - 5/01 and 4/04 are practically identical), which can often be found in more open habitats. None of these species are endangered in terms of species conservation.
