Environmental Impact of Automotive Traffic in City Environment and Methods of Diagnostic Measurements
Original language description
Automotive traffic in the Czech Republic represents one of major factors of unfavorable environmental impact. The producers, dealers and final users are forced by means of legislation to produce, sell and use motor vehicles of environmentally friendly profile. This is further supported by ISO 14000 standard. Regular emission tests of gradually aging vehicles are very ineffective in detection of sources of unfavorable environmental impact of worn and detuned engines. The quasistatic method of combustingengines fuel consumption and emissions production measurement was recently developed and verified for trucks and agricultural machinery at Czech University of Agriculture in Prague. This diagnostic method offers an interesting alternative to presently applied methods of emission measurement. This paper indicates relations between environmental impact of automotive traffic in a city urbanistic environment and new methods of diagnostic measurements and possibilities of their use, focusing
