Application of GPS for Continuous Diagnostics of Motor Vehicles Emissions in Traffic
Original language description
Application of GPS for Continuous Diagnostics of Motor Vehicles Emissions in Traffic The proposal presented in the paper involves periodic diagnostic evaluation of motor vehicles technical condition focusing on emission production and related GPS system, which is able to continuously trace the vehicle motion, velocity, acceleration and road grade for particular routes during the all-year vehicle operation. The emission and fuel consumption values are cumulated according to monitored vehicle operation conditions. The results of this monitoring can be used for determining the individual environmental load of the vehicle and possible related legislative recourses for the operator of the vehicle. Perspective possibility is monitoring the costs representedby impending traffic emissions fees and fuel consumption for particular routes and its use for drivers training and as an economical argument of good technical condition of the vehicle. The proposal also aims at the traffic safety.
