Silvicultural system is a complex regulation of management in stand. A review of development of management and silvicultural systems used in Central European forests cover the historical aspects from Middle Ages till now. The Czech Forest Act recognizesfour basic reproduction cuttings: (i) shelterwood system, (ii) border cutting system, (iii) clear cuttings and (iv) selection system. The principles as well as advantages and main characteristics of each systems are given, too.
