Comparison of different methods for assessing the pozzolanic activity of fly ash and bottom ash

  • Original language description

The work deals with the comparison of pozzolanic activity of selected fly ash (FA) and bottom ash (BA) fromlignite power plants in the Czech Republic. Pozzolanic activity was determined by Frattini test, electrical conductivity testand strength activity index (SAI). The results of the Frattini test performed after 8 days according to ČSN EN 196-5 showedthat all ashes have pozzolanic activity. In addition, the electrical conductivity test shows significant differences in thereactivity of the ash during the first hours of hydration. SAI was determined on mortars with 25 % ash replacement forcement after 28 days of hydration. The results of pozzolanic activity test methods were compared with each other and thecorrelations of the methods are discussed.
