Comparison of different methods for assessing the pozzolanic activity of fly ash and bottom ash

  • Original language description

The work deals with the comparison of pozzolanic activity of selected fly ash (FA) and bottom ash (BA) from lignite power plants in the Czech Republic. Pozzolanic activity was determined by Frattini test, electrical conductivity test and strength activity index (SAI). The results of the Frattini test performed after 8 days according to CSN EN 196-5 showed that all ashes have pozzolanic activity. In addition, the electrical conductivity test shows significant differences in the reactivity of the ash during the first hours of hydration. SAI was determined on mortars with 25 % ash replacement for cement after 28 days of hydration. The results of pozzolanic activity test methods were compared with each other and the correlations of the methods are discussed.
