Design of a Batch Process with Software BDK
Original language description
Batch processes are characteristic by frequent changes of technology and by continuous introduction of new or modified products; these fast changes create problems for chemical engineers who develop the new processes. Resulting problems require simulation of the production plant. In comparison with continuous processes, the simulation of batch processes was, until recently, encountered less often, and besides from other reasons this was because of their dynamic character and higher complexity. Only in recent years simulation programs aimed at batch processes have appeared, and now are developed at speed comparable to those of other software. One of the most modern software packages is BDK (Batch Design Kit). It is not intended for detailed simulation of chemical processes in one apparatus; its purpose is process development in pharmaceutical, specialty and fine chemical industries. BDK is software for process developers. It allows users to create different process versions, to simulate
