Mathematical modeling of micro-bioreactor-separator with immobilized enzyme and its optimization
Original language description
Mathematical modeling and optimization of micro-bioreactor-separator with immobilized enzyme is the subject of this paper. The considered micro-system is formed by thin channel filled with hydrophilic gel with the entrapped enzyme and dispersed micro-particulate adsorbent. Enzyme reaction and separation of reaction components via adsorption také simultaneously place in the system. Applied electric field enables to use current driven mass-transport processes (electrophoretic migration and electroosmosis)for transport of the reaction components within the channel. Mathematical model consists of mass balances of all reaction components, of the enthalpy balance and of the equation describing enzyme inactivation. We studied basic aspects of the micro-reactor performance by numerical simulations and obtained guidelines for optimum control of the micro-bioreactor-separator.
