Original language description
Hydrogen peroxide-thiosulfate-Cu 2+ (HPTCu) reaction belongs to pH-oscillators - reactions with an autocatalytic effect involving H + ions. When operated in the CSTR this reaction displays three different types of steady states, hysteresis, and oscillations. We focus on conditions favoring excitability and examine the system experimentally by pulsed addition of base. The response dynamics is compared with that for other pH-oscillating systems, such as the bromate-sulfite-ferrocyanide reaction and the papain oscillator.
