Design and construction of a single-use parallel plate flow chamber for particle adhesion study
Original language description
Parallel plate flow chambers are frequently used tools for characterization of the shear forces effects on living cells adhesion as well as adhesion of artificial particles. The goal of this work is to design and construct flow chamber suitable for studies of the role of particle parameters (such as diameter, surface properties) on adhesion under fluid flow conditions. It was developed a single-use flow chamber with straight channel, which consists of a Plexiglas slab with an adhesive tape and a microscopic glass slide. This chamber enables the monitoring of particle trajectories, evaluation of percentage of attached particles, rolling velocities and forces needed for particles detachment. The advantage of our flow chamber in the comparison with commercial chambers is the simplicity of its construction and using. The low cost allows using the chamber just one times, thus the chamber cleaning take not place.
