Investigation of dry neutralization kinetics in a laboratory-scale granulator
Original language description
Dry neutralization is a type of chemical reaction where acid is neutralized by base in a solid state. One of industrially relevant dry neutralizations is a reaction between dodecyl-benzenesulfonic acid and sodium carbonate which takes place in a plough-shear granulator. By this reaction is being produced sodium dodecyl-benzenesulfonate which is nowdays most common anionic surfactant used in a wide variety of washing powders and other cleaning products. The aim of this study is to measure the reaction kinetics for a future development of a mathematical model which would be able to predict properties of the granules produced by the reaction with process parameters as input values.
