Mathematical modelling of Wurster fluid bed coating
Original language description
Wurster fluid bed coating is an effective way of manufacturing the layers used to create drug delivery systems, but it requires very precise control. On an industrial scale, the optimization of Wurster coating process parameters can be demanding because it necessitates many time-consuming pilot-scale experiments, the scope of which is limited by the cost of APIs. In this presentation we summarize results of our thermodynamic model and show its applicability as an analytical and predictive tool for drug production optimization. In the second part, we discuss possibility to extend the model with results extracted from CFD-DEM simulations.
